I honestly don’t understand why there are so many negative reviews?.. It’s a very reasonable and especially reasonably priced hotel! I’ve stayed in much worse places for twice the price. Rooms are very spacious and well stocked and the facilities are a bonus. There are signs that this is an old building and it’s a bit dusty but nothing I’ve experienced warrant anything less than 4 stars for the price I paid.

Nice hotel, very quiet ,friendly staff, not very busy at all. The food however for breakfast was not nice at all or the quality of the meat used in the burgers, and sausages for evening meal in the clubhouse restaurant onsite weren't nice and very rubbery. Mash tasted like it was out of a packet not fresh. Other than the food nice enough place but food really let it down.

Good location, very friendly staff. The standard double room we stayed in was pleasant and clean. There were 2 bottles of Harrogate water and Borders biscuits. Netflix was available in the room and there was free WiFi. There weren't many people at dinner yet the garlic prawns weren't garlici enough and our fish and chips was overdone. We asked for no ice in our drinks but both had ice. The GM George was very nice and offered us an upgrade for our next visit. Hope your shoulder gets better soon. Worth staying here.

Lovely time for a 3 day break. Hotel is very dated now and needs refurbishing, including the sauna, spa bit. Corridors smell damp, but if you're there for a short stay, then its a great base.

Very mixed review; we had a lovely stay for these reasons; - Receptionist Steve was amazing to upgrade us to the double suite which made our stay very good value for money. - the spa was great, quiet, fully functioning steam room (great size & temperature), sauna & jacuzzi. The pool was a good temperature to have a swim. - we had the dinner included which was a buffet, we loved the squash soup, partner liked the beef dish. Desserts (cheesecake & carrot cake) was nice. - breakfast was good. Reasons why we didn’t enjoy the stay as much; - the room was cold and we were told that the heaters aren’t switched on until mid October (Steve did try to find us a heater with no luck). - it’s definitely not a 4 star hotel, it’s very tired in appearance & needs updating. - the buffet dinner was hit and miss, not much variety, it felt like eating at a canteen not a 4 star hotel. - loud guests in the car park until early hours. - had to pay £5 per person to use the spa. - was given 1 complimentary drink when there was 2 of us?!

Absolutely lovely hotel, staff were friendly and welcoming. Pool was lovely and so quiet, I had it to myself for ages. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Overall a perfect solo break after the Christmas frenzy and plan to come back for couples spa treatments in the near future.

I was only here for one night, came in the evening and left early morning so can’t say much but it was a nice hotel. My room and bathroom was very clean and has no issues at all. The bed was not the comfiest and the reception were helpful with some extra pillows. If you’re driving at night the road to the hotel is a bit mad

The hotel is set in a truly beautiful location — very scenic, green, and spacious, with a lovely sense of nature all around. The surroundings are definitely one of its strongest points. However, the layout of the building is quite confusing. Once inside, it’s surprisingly difficult to find the reception, spa area, or even a clear way out. Wayfinding could really be improved. The room itself was spacious, warm, and cosy, with all the necessary facilities provided — kettle, iron, and everything needed for a comfortable stay. The spa is decent but feels quite dated. There is a pool, sauna, and steam room, but the jacuzzi is very small — it’s not practical for more than two people at a time. Unfortunately, the main issue was the service. Requests were handled very slowly, and there was no housekeeping during the stay. In practice, most problems had to be resolved independently, which took away from the overall experience. Overall, this hotel has great potential thanks to its location and room comfort, but improvements in navigation, spa facilities, and especially staff service would make a big difference.
